She was the one true founder of this dynasty of teaching enthusiasts, the matriarch of an ever improving clan. She taught us to always aim to be better but never to forget to have fun along the way. As she always says to her students: “enjoy as much as possible and learn English”. In that order.
And that is something her students have always treasured about her because they gain confidence in their abilities since minute one. As we say in Spanish, “if you want to, you can”. And if you believe you can, you succeed.
Not only did our mother bring English into our lives when we were too young to hold a spoon but growing in a family where teaching has been the money maker did have a huge impact on our careers.
Pedro Jesús, my elder brother, has a successful job in marketing but he also teaches in the most important universities in Spain, just because he can’t help it. It does run in the family!
