En esta lección de vocabulario básico en inglés vamos a aprender a hablar de la ropa y un poquito también sobre la moda.
Como siempre que estés aprendiendo vocabulario en inglés, échale un vistazo a la lista pero no te la estudies. Es mejor y más eficiente que leas los ejemplos y después veas y escuches los vídeos.

En esta lección no necesitamos ninguna regla ni consejos para aprender a hablar de la ropa en inglés porque simplemente se trata de aprender vocabulario.
Únicamente, hay que tener en cuenta que, aunque en español es singular, clothes es una palabra plural. Por tanto, va con el verbo en plural.

T-shirts are usually the most popular clothes. We all have too many t-shirts in our closets. Don’t you think?
Men and women can wear shirts and trousers but skirts and blouses are usually worn only by women. Men usually wear blazers with a shirt and a tie but you can also wear a blazer with casual clothes like a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.

Jumpers and coats are very popular in winter. There are many patterns and prints and they can be made in so many different fabrics. Most children and teenagers usually prefer hoodies to knit jumpers, because they say they are itchy.

Some people like going to bed in their underwear but in winter, most people prefer to wear pajamas. They are so hot!
On the other hand, we usually wear swimwear in the summer, when we go to the swimming pool or the beach. Women can wear bathing suits or bikinis and men usually wear trunks or speedos, like professional swimmers do.
Some people, especially cooks and chefs, wear aprons when they are cooking so that they don’t get their clothes dirty. Everybody, but especially children, like wearing costumes during certain holidays like Carnival or Halloween, when they can pretend to be their favorite superhero or anything they want.

There are many types of underwear, both for men and women. Some men prefer boxers and others prefer slips.
Among women, knickers (UK) or panties (USA) seem more popular than thongs. Anyway, it is just a matter of preference.
Nowadays, some people, especially young people and hipsters, don’t wear socks. It looks like a very uncomfortable trend.

Shoes not only are necessary but also a luxury item. Many people, both men and women, like collecting different kinds of shoes.
Among men, sneakers (USA) or trainers (UK) are more popular although sometimes you can’t choose and you have to wear shoes in your job. For women, high heels are very popular too but they don’t look very comfortable. Some women like wearing high heels to look fantastic but they also keep a pair of ballerinas in their purse in case their feet need a rest.
After a long day working and walking, we all like wearing slippers at home.
Shoes can be different depending on the time of the year. In winter, boots are very popular because they protect you from rain and snow. In summer, people like wearing sandals and flip flops when they go to the beach or the swimming-pool.

Jewelry can be very expensive when it is made of gold or silver but, nowadays, it is more common to wear faux jewelry (bisutería), which is cheaper.
Watches are the most popular for both men and women. Nowadays, we even have smartwatches that allow you to stay connected to your friends and family and can work as a smartphone.
Although women usually wear more and better jewelry, earrings and bracelets are also common for some men, especially rock stars.
Rings are the most special of them all and many people dream of the day they will get their wedding ring, the traditional gift for your spouse.

Accessories are very personal. Some people don’t wear any but others like wearing many accessories to define their unique style.
Men usually wear ties if they work in an office and bow ties if they go to an elegant party. Some people also wear hats but they were more popular in the past. Teenagers prefer caps to hats and most of them wear a backpack to school.
Belts, wallets and purses can be made of leather or some other fabric. Belts help keep your pants up and wallets and purses are where we keep our money and credit cards.
In winter, we usually wear a soft hat made of wool, a scarf and some gloves in the coldest days.
