Esta es una lista sencilla pero completa, que incluye los principales animales domésticos en inglés. Algunos no son muy comunes en español pero sí en países de habla inglesa como mapache o canguro y por eso los he incluido.

No te recomiendo en ningún caso ir más allá y tratar de memorizar una lista interminable de animales en inglés que nunca usas en español.

Humans love animals and many people have pets at home. They are really part of the family.

Most people choose dogs as their pets but cats are very popular, too. When dogs are still little we call them puppies. Young cats are called kittens.

Some other animals are also popular pets like birds, which people keep in a cage or goldfish, which live in an aquarium. Rabbits and hamsters are the fluffiest pets and that’s why they are very popular among children.

farm animals

There are many different animals in a farm. Some are bigger than us and some are smaller.

Pigs and cows are the most common farm animals but in Spain, there are also many bulls. Cows and bulls like spending time together because they are married. Pigs are very big and they can be pink, brown or black. 

Sheep are very cute and they produce fluffy wool that we use for winter clothes. Goats have horns and many people find goat cheese delicious.

Most people love horses because they are powerful and they look noble. Horses are married to mares. Horses and mares live in groups because they are social animals. Groups of animals are called herds.

In Spain and some other countries there are also donkeys, which are similar to horses but smaller.

Mice can be found in farms but also in cities and villages. They are everywhere. Most people don’t like them but others have mouse pets as their friends.

Unlike cows, pigs and sheep (which are mammals), farm birds lay eggs. Ducks are very beautiful and their feathers come in all the colors of the rainbow. Ducks walk in a funny way that makes people love them.

Hens lay eggs we all love for breakfast and in omelettes. Hens are the mother of chicken and their husbands are called roosters. Roosters wake up very early and you know the sun is rising because rooster start singing.

Turkeys are bigger than ducks or chicken and they are original from North America. Nowadays, we can find turkeys all over the world.
