Vamos a ver una serie de ideas y características generales de los tiempos de los verbos en inglés que nos ayuden a entender de forma global cómo funciona la gramática inglesa.
1 Los tiempos continuos se forman a partir de los tiempos simples, conjugando el verbo to be, y se añade el verbo —ing.

2 Los tiempos perfectos del inglés se hacen siempre conjugando el verbo have y añadiendo detrás un participio.

3 En inglés no existe el modo subjuntivo como tal, pero sí hay expresiones que indican el mismo sentido que el modo subjuntivo del español, como los usos especiales de wish.
4 El condicional no forma parte de los tiempos de los verbos en inglés sino que es un verbo auxiliar.
5 En español existen muchas más formas de los tiempos de los verbos por lo que es normal que varios tiempos del español se traduzcan a uno solo del inglés.
